PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Guthrie Center Community
School is a North Central Association accredited school system which currently
operates at two sites, all located in-town; Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade
Elementary School, a seventh through eighth grade Junior High School built in
1993 and ninth through twelfth grade
High School.

Guthrie Center takes
great pride in the educational opportunities and advantages available to the
community. The students consistently rank in the nation's 90th percentile for
"Basic Skills" and the "Iowa Tests of Education Development." The school system
offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Statistics show that ninety
percent of the student body participates in at least one activity and the
majority of that percentile is enrolled in several programs.
Professional Special
Education, Talented and Gifted and At Risk programs are available for students
who are in need of such services.
The elementary school boasts a $100,000 completely wooden playground that was
erected by over 1,200 volunteers in just five days.
Our mission is: "To be an innovative, educational organization committed to
providing learning experiences of superior quality, which enable ALL
students to meet challenges now and in the future."
To accomplish this mission, we want our students to be: "self-directed
learners, collaborative workers, complex thinkers, community contributors,
quality producers, wellness practitioners, global participants, and effective
communicators."
